The story
Big Bluff Ranch started raising chickens this way to make the soil better. Turns out what’s good for the land is good for the bird.
They grow slowly, live outside on pasture, and eat a locally milled feed of wheat and canola meal. We air-chill instead of water-chill, so there’s no added water and the skin crisps instead of steaming. Then we flash-freeze each bird at peak freshness.

- Boxes ship frozen with 2-day service every Wednesday, or collect at Fillco HQ in Capay Tuesday–Friday. Shipping is billed per box as each box ships; your estimate shows at checkout.
- Freezer space
- A half share needs roughly 2 cubic feet spread over four boxes; a full share about 4. Each box fits a standard freezer drawer.
- Storage & shelf life
- Vacuum-sealed and flash-frozen; best within 12 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight — the air-chilled skin crisps like fresh.

- Can I change a shipment date after I order?
- Yes — any box, any time before it ships. Move it from your account to whatever date suits you.
- What if I’m not home?
- Keep an eye on the estimated delivery time in your tracking email and plan to be home for it. Boxes typically stay cold for 48 hours from shipment.
- Is the 50/50 mix half by weight?
- By birds: half arrive whole, half as boneless breast and bone-in leg packs.
Ownership shares are processed, cold-stored and shipped by Fillco. Delivery is scheduled once your animal or harvest is ready.
